Description: Psionics is the ability to use only one's mind to affect the world around them.
Who Can Learn It: Only Psions and Psycians may learn Psionics. "Latent" Psionics can also exist in other classes, but have no real skill.
What It is Supposed to Do: Allow you to use your mind to affect the world around you without having to move a muscle.
What
it Does: Grants various powers that have varied effects.
These powers use some fatigue, but mainly take Psionic Points (also called
Psi). The psionic powers include:
Psionic Dart - A mental attack which does considerable damage for a low-level ability. It also bypasses armor.
Psionic Detect Invisible - Searches the shadows for the minds of others, so you know who is stalking you.
Psionic Detect Psionics - Searches for Psionic abilities in those around you.
Psionic ESP - Gives people the ability to CONTACT others (send messages over great distances).
Psionic Examination - Examines the aura of a creature, revealing its basic statistics and true name/race.
Psionic Fly - Allows the psionic to fly!
Psionic Heal - Grants physical healing to the psionic.. and later to others.
Psionic
Confuse - Incapacitates a target by filling their head with confusing
thoughts.

Activation:
PSI (PSI [Power] or PSI [Power] AT [Target]).
Usefulness (Low Levels): High. Psionics may not have as many "varied" powers as channeling does, but it does have quite a few. Psionic Dart also does a large amount of damage for a low-level ability.
Usefulness (Mid-Levels): High. Abilities like Vigor and Fly are extremely useful, and damaging attacks such as dart are doing full damage.
Usefulness (High Levels): High. Confuse is one of the most powerful abilities in Dragon's Gate, and you will be able to use it well at these levels. Your psionic attacks are also doing a great deal of damage..
How to Practice: When not in combat, simply PSI DINV to detect invisible being and gain uses. When in combat, try Psi Dart. Dart does good damage, has a very low delay, and is not very draining.
Tips: Since a psion can hold a weapon while using their abilities, it is not a bad idea to develop a weapon skill. Know, however, that many Psions frown on such martial practices.
Unconfirmed Rumors (May or May Not Be True): Willpower directly affects you psionic abilities and points. Wisdom and Intelligence may also affect them.
